Regional Members' Meetings
WGNRR encourages and financially supports face-to-face encounters between its members though the Regional Members’ Meetings. In the age of predominantly internet based communication, opportunities for face-to-face meetings among fellow activists from across the globe are far and few in between. It is through personal contact in one geographical space that the bonds really grow, ideas are shared and discussed, and new collective strategies are formed.
Regional Members’ Meetings are held yearly in different parts of the world, serving as a catalysing event for the WGNRR membership. During the Regional Members’ Meetings, members consolidate regional and international experiences related to the most relevant SRHR and elaborate specific advocacy and policy influencing strategies at national, regional and international levels.
For this purpose, all the working tools within the WGNRR membership: advocacy, communication and capacity development programmes are thoroughly discussed. The Call for Action, one of the main WGNRR advocacy tools, is usually the focus of the RMM.
So far, Regional Members’ Meetings have taken place in:
Nairobi, Kenya 2007
Managua, Nicaragua 2007
Cape Town, South Africa 2008
Bangkok, Thailand 2010
The next Regional Meeting is planned for October 2010 in Antigua, Guatemala.
All members from Latin America and Caribbean are welcome to apply.
